Expanding Pathways to Prosperity
InvestNorth is a GKFF supported initiative that partners with the community to invest in programs that deliver upward mobility, wealth creation and the revitalization of neighborhoods. With six neighborhoods across six square miles, InvestNorth builds on north Tulsa’s proud and rich history to bring the community's aspirations to life, channeling resources into core focus areas designed to uplift the community and honor the legacy of its heritage: quality housing, community health and wellness, wealth creation and access to education.
InvestNorth works alongside residents and neighborhood-based organizations to bring their aspirations for the neighborhoods to life.
By 2036 InvestNorth will double the number of families in north Tulsa neighborhoods earning a living wage by supporting efforts that:
Housing
Invest in and deliver diverse housing options that prevent displacement and expand opportunity
Community Wellness
Invest in quality and accessible basic needs to improve community wellness
Youth Development
Invest in education and youth programming to give children every opportunity to succeed
Wealth Creation
Invest in entrepreneurship and workforce development to create and sustain Black wealth

With this vision in mind, InvestNorth partners in initiatives and organizations that deeply engage residents, transform public amenities, and reimagine public housing and social services, leaving a lasting positive impact.
Neighborhoods We Support
North Tulsa is home to a diverse community with a history of strength and resilience. We focus our efforts in North Tulsa neighborhoods to honor the area’s legacy, and work towards a brighter future where residents are supported and encouraged to thrive.
Using our deep understanding of North Tulsa’s challenges and our close relationships with organizations and community members, our team works closely with North Tulsa residents to foster strong and meaningful connections with the community.
Hawthorne
The Hawthorne Neighborhood is home to 2,687 residents. Its boundaries cover 1.8 square miles between Apache Street and 36th Street North, from the Tulsa County Line to Peoria Avenue and then following Mohawk Boulevard to Lewis Avenue. The neighborhood is home to the Hawthorne Elementary, Crossover Community Center, Educare, Crossover Health Clinic, Osage Prairie Trail, Peoria Mohawk Business Park, Gilcrease Expressway, and the Peoria AERO Bus Rapid Transit route.
Whitman
The Walt Whitman Neighborhood is home to 2,724 residents. Its boundaries cover 1.2 square miles between 36th & 46th Streets North, Peoria Ave., and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The neighborhood is home to the OU Tisdale Health Clinic, Walt Whitman Elementary School, the Tulsa Tech Peoria Campus, Crossover Health Clinic, various religious organizations, Educare, the Gibbs Shopping Center, Crossover Community Center, and a segment of the Osage Prairie Trail.
Flat Rock Creek
The Flat Rock Creek Neighborhood, just west of Lake Yahola, covers 1.7 square miles between 36th & 46th Street North, Peoria, and U.S. Highway 75. Flat Rock Creek and Dirty Butter Creek flow through the area, and a large portion of the neighborhood is identified as being in the City of Tulsa regulatory floodplain. As a result, much of the area is undeveloped. Developed areas were built in the 1950s, and largely consist of detached houses and apartment complexes, with commercial uses along arterial streets.
North Ridge
The Walt Whitman Neighborhood is home to 2,724 residents. Lloyd Park
The Lloyd Park Neighborhood covers 2.6 square miles between Apache, 36th St N, Peoria Ave, Mohawk Blvd, and Yale Ave. Developed mostly between 1944 and 1970, the area is composed of a mix of detached and multi-family housing, moderate industrial development, and other employment uses. The Gilcrease Expressway and Highway 75 converge in the area, which is home to two Tulsa Public schools, TCC’s Northeast Campus, and Lloyd Park. It is also near the zoo, airport, and Mohawk Park.
